A saltwater pool still needs regular maintenance. The salt system generates sanitizer, but it does not eliminate testing, cleaning, circulation, or equipment care.

Water balance still matters

Saltwater pools need appropriate pH and other chemistry levels just like traditionally chlorinated pools. Testing is important because generator output alone does not tell you whether the entire water balance is where it should be.

The salt cell needs attention

Mineral buildup can reduce cell performance over time. The system should be inspected and maintained according to its condition and manufacturer guidance.

Keep circulation and filtration healthy

A salt generator cannot compensate for a circulation or filtration problem. Filters, pumps, returns, and water flow remain central to keeping the pool clear.
